Camp Overview: This multi phase program is designed to allow the players to challenge themselves as well as be challenged by others with similar skill to become better through repetitions and correction from our experienced coaches.
Power skating lessons will be designed around taking the students out of their comfort zones and pushing them to become a more efficient and powerful skater. We will break down the individual skills each student needs to gain confidence for the finer points of the game. We will put pucks on the players sticks and push them to become more confident and more creative in game situation.
Day 1 |
Forwards stride - emphasis put on extension and recovery for a full efficient powerful stride to create DPS(distance per stride) Stickhandling - striving to make each student more dangerous with the puck on their stick by getting their hands out and away from their bodies and extend their reach potential. |
|---|---|
Day 2 |
Backwards stride - creating a fluent effortless stride to make defending while skating backwards a natural action simplifying the game. |
Day 3 |
Turning, edges & Balance - generating mobility edge awareness and overall agility to generate and maintain speed with every push whether it be lateral or a change in direction tight turn. Shooting - emphasize the three key steps to every shot (wind up, weight transfer and follow through) instead of the often forgot sequence that leaves most shots with something to be desired. |
Day 4 |
Review/Game Situations - reinforce the key points of the week in game to make the fine points of hockey into permanent habits and ultimately translating into confidence in game situations. Body Contact, Angling and Puck Separation - cover the rules and safety for all aspects of the more physical part of the game. Age appropriate lessons for the players will give confidence to players whether it is body contact or the angle and pin approach. |
Day 5 |
Skills testing and scrimmage - we will put the kids in the drivers seat and let the results speak for themselves with a skills competition and scrimmage to end of the week. |
